About HSPC

At any given time, the Humane Society of Portage County is responsible for the health and well-being of over 200 companion animals. Through the financial support of our donors, we provide these animals with food, comfort and veterinary care. Our education and outreach programs reach young people in our community with information regarding bite prevention, pet care and the humane, compassionate treatment of animals. We offer volunteer opportunities, including dog and cat socialization, housekeeping, educational programming and fundraising.

The Humane Society of Portage County is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 established in 1969. We are served by a volunteer board of directors, paid staff members and volunteers. Our shelter operations are completely dependent upon the generous donations of community members. Portage County contracts with the Humane Society to provide animal control services; our Humane Officers are available 24 hours a day to rescue stray animals, investigate reports of abuse or neglect and enforce animal welfare laws.
