Top Dog Stevens Point Canine Mayor contest is a FUN – FUNdraising event that benefits the Humane Society of Portage County (HSPC).

To complete the registration we need you to send us a color photograph of the candidate and the answers to two questions (ignore if the answers were supplied when registering):

  • What are the candidate’s Political Beliefs (Political platform)
  • What are the candidate’s Special Talents and Tricks?

We encourage the candidates to be creative when answering these questions.  Answers can be serious, humorous, thought provoking or stimulating.  They should be used to attract supporters and voters.

During the month of May, the candidates are on the campaign trail to get to know their constituents and promote their platforms. Individual candidates may promote themselves widely and shamelessly in locations of their own choosing including but not limited to: Their own Facebook page, their own website, their owner’s website, on YouTube, their owner’s place of business, on posters, on billboards, radio ads and on television. The details of each candidate’s promotion are left to the good judgement of their owners.

The community will be able to show their support by voting for their favorite candidate during the month of June. Voters can cast their votes for multiple candidates and they can vote multiple times casting as many votes as they like. Each vote is a $1 donation to the Humane Society of Portage County. Votes can be cast online at the HSPC website, by mail to HSPC, 3200 Iber Ln, Plover WI 54467, and in the HSPC lobby. Individual candidates may set up their own polling stations and collect votes on behalf of their candidates. All votes must be delivered  to the HSPC lobby at 3200 Iber Lane in Plover before 5PM on Saturday June 30th 2018. Online voting closes at midnight on Saturday June 30th 2018.

Candidates are encouraged to join the festivities and meet their supporters at the Humane Society’s Walk For Wags  event held at Pfiffner Pioneer Park on Sunday June 3rd from 11AM to 2PM. Candidates may solicit and collect votes at the event.

A tally of votes received will be posted on the Humane Society website and on Facebook www.facebook.com/hspcwi  each Sunday in June.
